Position Summary
The Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington (SPH-B) invites applications for an open-rank, non- tenure-track (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer or Clinical Assistant Professor/Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical Professor) faculty position in the Department of Applied Health Science. The SPH-B seeks individuals who will contribute toward academic excellence in teaching in support of our mission of preventing disease and promoting the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities. This 10-month appointment would ideally start August 1, 2025. The Department of Applied Health Science unites a multidisciplinary faculty with expertise in social and behavioral science applied to health; nutrition and dietetics; opioids, addictions, and substance use prevention; sexual and reproductive health; human development and family studies/youth development; safety/total worker health/injury prevention; maternal and child health; and global public health, all pursuing the common goal of preventing disease and promoting the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities. Basic Qualifications
Qualifications: Master's or doctoral degree in relevant field (Doctoral or terminal degree, such as PhD, ScD, DrPH, MD, preferred), a track record of teaching excellence related to Human Development and Family Studies/Youth Development, experience working in the Human Development and Family Studies/Youth Development field, experience advising and mentoring students. Candidates with teaching experience at the undergraduate level are preferred.
Good interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to work cooperatively and congenially within a diverse faculty are required.
The ideal candidate will 1) bring real-world experience in Human Development and Family Studies/Youth Development, 2) have a passion for teaching and mentoring undergraduate students, and 3) have a deep understanding and the ability to convey conceptual knowledge and skills in fundamental principles in Human Development and Family Studies/Youth Development.
For Youth Development candidates, certification with the Child and Youth Care Certification Board is recommended.
This position is located on the campus of Indiana University Bloomington in Bloomington, Indiana, and successful candidates are expected to work on the Bloomington campus to allow full engagement with the department, school, campus, and community.
Additional Qualifications
Responsibilities: This open-rank, non-tenure track (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer or Clinical Assistant Professor/Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical Professor) faculty member in the Department of Applied Health Science is expected to substantially contribute to the overall academic excellence of the department through teaching and service. The selected candidate will serve on the faculty in the programmatic area of Human Development and Family Studies/Youth Development. The teaching expectation will be six courses per year (three courses in the Fall term and three courses in the Spring term). Courses taught will be related to one's interests, expertise, and needs of the program.
