Director of the Faith-Based Institute of Public Policy

Reporting to the Chief Government Affairs Officer and Special Assistant to the President for Government Affairs and Community Partnerships, the Director of the Faith-Based Institute of Public Policy (Director 3) will lead the strategic vision and operational management of the institute, driving research, advocacy and community engagement initiatives that integrate faith perspectives into public policy. The Director will serve as a key thought leader in urban policy development, fostering partnerships between faith communities, academic entities and public institutions to address critical social issues affecting urban populations. The Director is responsible for leadership and strategic planning, research and policy development, community engagement and partnership building, administrative and financial management, academic and educational responsibilities and performs other administrative duties as required. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.

 

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and a minimum of three years of experience in a leadership role within an academic, research or faith-based organization is required. Preferred qualifications include: five to seven years of experience; experience working within or in collaboration with faith-based organizations; knowledge of New Jersey’s urban challenges and familiarity with local policy landscapes; and an established network of contacts in the public policy, faith and community sectors. A doctoral degree in public policy, theology, sociology, urban studies or a related field may be substituted for two years of the required experience. Candidate must have demonstrated experience in public policy research, advocacy and community engagement, particularly in urban contexts and a proven track record of publishing research and securing funding through grants and donations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
