Her research is focused on emotion regulation, which she conceptualizes as having both a psychophysiological and temperamental component. Her previous research focused on infants with these difficulties and hypersensitivities, termed regulatory disordered (RD). Her recent research has also focused on other factors that may negatively influence emotion regulation abilities, such as the experience of trauma and viewing of negative content in television commercials. Lastly, her research has focused on the potential ameliorative impact of yoga and exercise for individuals with emotion regulation difficulties. A separate line of research has focused on the potential negative impact of media, books, and videos available to children.
