    Job Summary


    The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in Criminal Justice. The selected candidate will be required to teach a four/four course load of undergraduate courses and/or an equivalent combination of undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of Criminal Justice. Other duties include teaching online classes, and providing student advising, research, and other scholarly activity.

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities



    • In-dept knowledge of the Criminal Justice System and related systems

    • Knowledge of effective teaching methods, including online teaching, instructional design and student engagement

    • Knowledge of various assessment strategies to evaluate student learning and academic performance

    • Excellent verbal and communication skills

    • Skills to balance teaching responsibilities, research activities, and departmental, university committee involvement, effectively

    • Ability to adjust teaching methods and course materials based on student feedback and emerging trends

    • Knowledge, skills and ability to design and create comprehensive course materials including course syllabi, lecture notes, assignments and assessment aligned with program objectives

    • Ability to offer academic support and advisement to students

    • Ability to guide and support students in their academic and professional development


    Essential Job Functions




      • Ability to teach varied courses in Criminal Justice

      • Demonstrate knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to teaching, managing, and evaluating students

      • Advise Criminal Justice Students about academic requirements and registration for classes

      • Contribute to continual program improvement through annual evaluation of program outcomes and objectives

      • Assist in ongoing program curriculum development and participate in
        service to the program, department, and school

      • Actively engage in professional activities related to Criminal Justice and
        the Department of Social Sciences

      • Actively engage in research

      • Comply with the departmental curriculum, grading standards, student
        performance data, attendance policy, textbooks choices, and assessment

      • Comply with all scheduled due dates regarding teaching, grading, and
        advising

      • Serve on department, school, and university committees

      • Comply with all federal, state, and university laws and policies



    Qualifications


    The candidate must have an earned PhD/Doctorate in Criminal Justice, Criminology or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
