    Job Description


    The Department of Counseling & Human Services (CHS) at Old Dominion University (ODU) seek a qualified counseling professional to coordinate the department’s partnership with the ODU Counseling Center to provide counseling services to ODU students, beginning in Fall 2024. This is a 10-month appointment annual reporting to the CHS Department Chair.


    The Clinical Assistant Professor and Partnership Director will provide clinical and administrative oversight of all ODU CHS students placed at the Counseling Center, including supervision of CHS trainees and personnel. They will facilitate the assignment of ODU students presenting for counseling services to CHS trainees, make clinical assignments for all counseling students, teach graduate practicum and internship courses at the master’s and doctoral level, and provide inclusive mentorship for the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral CHS students working in the center. Other administrative functions include advising the CHS Department Chair on the management of trainee experiences, evaluating CHS personnel assigned to the center, and liaising with the other offices and health clinics on campus to promote interprofessional collaboration between allied healthcare and wellness disciplines. The Clinical Assistant Professor and Partnership Director is also responsible for ethical, legal, and administrative policy compliance including providing oversight of records in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA expectations.


    Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities


    Candidates must have:


    1. Experience supporting counseling students in clinical training environments,

    2. A demonstrated commitment to equity and diversity,

    3. Familiarity with laws and regulations governing counselor training experiences, and

    4. Counseling experience with college-age populations.


     


    Minimum Qualifications - Education or training


    Candidates must hold a doctorate in Counselor Education or closely related field by July 25, 2024.

     


    Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification


    Candidates also must be licensed or license-eligible for independent clinical mental health practice in the state of Virginia as a LPC, licensed psychologist, or LMFT within 6 months of start date.

     


    Preferred Qualifications



    • A doctoral degree from a CACREP-accredited program.

    • Competencies equivalent to at least 3 years of clinical experience and 1 year of clinical supervisory experience.

    • Previous experience administering counseling training clinics or other administrative roles in mental health.
