Professor Setren is seeking motivated, organized, and curious individuals to work on research that investigates the impact of educational reforms, programs, and policies and their potential to improve students’ trajectories and ameliorate educational inequities.
The Research Scholar position is a full-time, limited term position ending July, 2022, with the potential (with successful performance in the role) to extend to a second year under the National Bureau of Economic Research. The position is located at Tufts University (Medford, MA) and the National Bureau of Economic Research (Cambridge, MA). The start date is somewhat flexible and could range from January 2022 to July 2022.
The primary project analyzes the impact of a long-standing desegregation school bussing program on a range of long-term outcomes, including academic performance, college choices and completion, employment and earnings, civic engagement, criminal justice outcomes, marriage and fertility, and neighborhood choice. The Research Scholar may also work on additional projects in education economics on topics such as school choice and school discipline policy.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The Research Scholar will work on a range of research tasks, including conducting data analysis, creating and managing research datasets using Stata, and preparing analyses for presentations and research papers.
