The Department of Social Work at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) invites applications and nominations for a nine-month, tenure-track position at the Assistant level. This teacher-scholar position is available Fall 2020. Now is an especially exciting time for the department as we welcomed our inaugural cohort of PhD students in Fall 2019 and also enter into over forty years of partnership with the Department of Sociology and Social Work at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NCA&T) a historically black university (HBCU). Specifically, the PhD and MSW programs are joint programs with the Department of Sociology and Social Work at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NCA&T); and the BSW Program has a 45 year joint field program with NCA&T.

A strong commitment to diversity/inclusion, social justice, and student-centered social work education is essential for this position. The person in this position will have teaching responsibilities across the BSW, MSW and PhD programs. Experience in undergraduate and/or graduate teaching in social work is preferred. Candidates must possess an MSW and a doctorate in social work or a related social science field by August 1, 2020. Two years of post-master’s clinical practice experience is preferred.

Additionally, the successful candidate must:

  • Be an active citizen in the school and university, with partnering universities and the broader community;

The Department has CSWE-accredited BSW and MSW programs and National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)-accredited BSW and MSW school social work licensure programs. The Department also houses an interdisciplinary gerontology program. The Department has strong external funding from sources such as the National Institutes of Health, Health Resources and Services Administration, and Cone Health Foundation.
