As a joint initiative between the School of Business, Department of Economics, and the School of Science, Department of Mathematics and Systems Analysis at Aalto University, we invite applications for a tenured position as

Associate/full professor in Energy and Environmental Economics

The position is hosted at the Department of Economics, the leading research-oriented economics unit in Finland. For more information about the Department, please visit:  http://economics.aalto.fi/en/

We are part of Helsinki Graduate School of Economics (Helsinki GSE, https://www.helsinkigse.fi), which brings together the economics faculty from three Finnish universities - Aalto University, Hanken School of Economics, and the University of Helsinki. Our mission is to produce outstanding research with maximum academic and social impact, to educate the next generation of world-class economists, and to offer excellent training across disciplinary borders.

Requirements

Throughout their careers, those in the tenure track system are expected to conduct and supervise scientific research, to provide related academic education, contribute to developing their field or discipline, as well as contribute to academic service the university and beyond in the society.

Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in economics or in a related field. A successful candidate should have an extensive research and teaching record in energy and environmental economics. The applicants will be reviewed based on their research, teaching and activity in the scientific community. The merits must meet the criteria of a tenured associate/full professor. From the candidates, Aalto University will select those who will continue in the process. Shortlisted applicants are invited for a site visit. The preliminary schedule for the site visits is set for March 2026.

  • Curriculum Vitae - The CV should include the sections that are presented in the template recommended by The Finnish Advisory Board on Research Integrity though it does not need to follow this format
  • List of publications, with the most significant publications highlighted
  • Research portfolio - a concise (4-10 pages) reflection on the merits, long-term vision, and research plan.
