Job Description Summary
The Department of Psychological Sciences at Auburn University invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor beginning fall semester, August 16th, 2024.
As the state leader in artificial intelligence (AI) innovation, research and education, Auburn University is bolstering its position in the area through an investment of $2 million toward AI@AU: Auburn University Artificial Intelligence Initiative. The initiative’s goals are to assemble a multi-disciplinary faculty team to expand AI research and education across the university, create a computational infrastructure for AI research and education, explore university-wide educational innovations in AI, and become the university’s focal point for participation in statewide, regional and national initiatives on AI. The successful candidate is expected to participate in this initiative.
Candidates will contribute to the education and training of undergraduate and graduate students, including teaching courses in the candidate’s area of expertise and providing effective advisement and mentorship to a diverse population of students. Candidates are expected to maintain a strong research program, with potential for extramural funding, while contributing to an inclusive learning and working environment.
Candidates should have an independent research program which involves artificial intelligence in psychological sciences, broadly defined, we seek candidates with interests that complement or bridge strengths within one or more of the Department of Psychological Sciences’ graduate programs (Clinical Psychology, Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and Applied Behavior Analysis). A promising record of publications and a high potential for external funding is required. Candidates with a clear and sustained commitment to principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in their scholarly work are highly desirable. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field at the time employment begins. If a candidate has a degree in Clinical Psychology an APA-accredited program is desired, but not required. ABD candidates will be considered but must have a Ph.D. at the time employment begins or the offer will be withdrawn. Auburn University has state-of-the-art resources for research, including the Auburn University MRI Research Center. The Auburn University Psychological Services Center also offers opportunities for program development and providing supervision.
The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the term of employment. Excellent communication skills required.
