POSITION AVAILABILITY: The Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) in the College of Human Sciences at Auburn University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Early Childhood Development position at the assistant or associate rank. The position will begin August 16, 2024.

RESPONSIBILITIES: We are seeking applicants with expertise and a program of research in early childhood development, especially within racial-ethnic minority populations. Applicants’ research focus may include, but is not limited to, racial or ethnic identity development and socialization, socio-emotional development, early literacy and educational attainment, and stress and resilience within vulnerable populations. Applicants should provide evidence of an established, active, and externally funded program of research. Applicants must be able to advance early childhood development research and practice to prepare researchers in the study of early development inclusive of development as it occurs in diverse racial-ethnic contexts, as well as students entering the early education teacher workforce. Successful candidates are expected to maintain a productive, externally funded program of research and produce scholarly publications. Responsibilities also include instruction, supervision and advising of students, and service assignments.

THE DEPARTMENT: The Department includes 34 faculty members (19 full-time, tenure track) and offers undergraduate, masters, and doctoral degrees in HDFS. The department also has a strong interest in hiring faculty who have demonstrated commitment to diversity through lived experience, teaching proficiencies, and/or research interests. Both serve children and families in our state while functioning as research laboratories as well as learning sites for university students.
