Overview

The Counseling Center provides direct clinical services including initial evaluations and psychodiagnosis; treatment planning; individual short-term psychotherapy; crisis intervention; group treatment; and referral services. The department also provides outreach and consultation, such as consultation to parents, deans, faculty, and other concerned members of the university community; outreach activities to student support services and organizations; and psychoeducational programming.

What You'll Do

This is a full-time, 12-month appointment in a busy college mental health clinic. This position is one of three postdoctoral fellowships; fellows will work alongside psychologists, social workers, and psychiatric staff to provide a full range of clinical and outreach services to the Tufts community. In addition to the work outlined above, fellows will receive two (2) hours of individual supervision and one (1) hour of group supervision per week. Fellows will also participate in weekly staff meetings, clinical team meetings, and training seminars.

What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and working towards a Doctorate in Psychology (PhD, PsyD, EdD)
  • All degree requirements, including the dissertation defense, must be completed by August 24, 2026, and receipt of the doctoral degree will need to be verified no later than September 4, 2026
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and writing skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Specific training and experience working with diverse populations including—but not limited to—students of color, LGBTQIA students, and students of different ethnicities and immigration histories is desirable
  • Clinical experience in a college mental health setting is desirable but not required
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records is helpful
  • Multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply

Special Work Schedule Requirements:

Some after-hours outreach programming is required. This is a hybrid position; fellows are expected to be on campus 3-4 days/week, with 5 days on campus as an option if desired.

Pay Range

Minimum $49,500.00, Midpoint $62,000.00, Maximum $74,500.00

Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
