Student Engagement Librarian
Recently embarking on a historic $2.1 billion comprehensive campaign, the University of Kentucky set an ambitious path to be a destination for students, scholars, and healthcare providers to forge new discoveries and arrive at world-class outcomes. University of Kentucky Libraries is vital to fulfilling the goals of enhancing and expanding the university’s research enterprise, and we are looking for a faculty librarian to be the Student Engagement Librarian.
The Student Engagement Librarian will be responsible for creating and curating information literacy modules and learning objects that include general, subject, and graduate-level modules and objects. This position will provide information literacy instruction both in-person and virtually with a focus on first-year and first-generation students. Additionally, this position will serve as a liaison to first-year programs and academic departments.
Early career librarians, including those who will have completed a Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program by June 30, 2023, are encouraged to apply.

· Creates information literacy modules and learning objects, including general, subject, and graduate-level modules and objects in collaboration with colleagues.
· Participates in the outreach and promotion of library services and resources.
· Serves as liaison to first-year programs and actively develops professional relationships with faculty, researchers, and students in assigned disciplines.
· Provides in-depth, specialized research consultations for students, faculty, and visiting scholars.
· Leads course-based library instruction for assigned departments and partners with instructors to integrate information literacy into the curriculum.
· Identifies current and emerging user needs to inform new or existing library programs, programming, services, and partnerships.
· Participates in faculty governance and other shared leadership opportunities.
· Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program by appointment dateor equivalent combination of a relevant advanced degree and experience.
· Experience in planning and providing instruction.
· Ability to meet the requirements of tenure-track position through research, publication, and/or professional engagement.
· Experience creating instruction modules and/or learning objects.
· Record of scholarship, teaching, and/or active membership in professional associations.
As a member of the UKL faculty, this position participates in planning, shared governance, and UK Libraries-wide faculty activities. This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure eligible position in the Librarian Title Series (open rank) which requires scholarship, professional development, and service that contributes to the effectiveness of UK Libraries, the university, and the profession as outlined in Administrative Regulation 2:7 (https://www.uky.edu/regs/ar2-7
). Your Distribution of Effort (DOE) range: Primary assignment: 70-80%, Service/Prof. development and scholarship 20-30% and is reviewed at minimum annually each year. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. The minimum salary for a Librarian IV is $57,000 and for a Librarian III is $62,500.
