Lawrence Technological University, a nationally recognized pioneer in "theory and practice" education, is seeking an Assistant Professor of Psychology (9-month; tenure-track), specializing in social media studies. The position will be in the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Communication. We are particularly interested in social media and/or complex networks analysis expertise with focus on cognitive neuroscience as it relates to mental health, self-esteem, group dynamics, online ecology, tribalism, trust, politics, etc.
Duties and responsibilities: The successful candidate will be actively engaged in scholarship as it relates to social media, communication, and human behavior. The incumbent is expected to develop active collaborations with others on campus and seek external research funding. The candidate will be actively engaged in quantitative, computational and empirical research, conversant in statistical analyses, research methodology and design, with interest in supervising undergraduate research projects. Additionally, the candidate is expected to collaborate with a complementary position in computer science. Teaching of undergraduate courses and service to the college and university are required.
Qualifications: An earned Ph.D. in psychology, communication, or a closely related field with demonstrable expertise in social media communication is required. A record of peer-reviewed publications, cross-disciplinary collaborations, and a strong interest in social media research or network analysis are required.
