As part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith traditions and worldviews, Marian University is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Global Studies to begin August 15, 2026. This position will promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by fostering student learning through innovative pedagogy, inclusive practices, and impactful research within a global and interdisciplinary context.
The successful candidate will teach introductory and upper-level courses in Global Studies, including foundational courses as well as specialized topics such as global health, social movements, and Indigenous histories. While the area of expertise is open, preference will be given to candidates with regional specialization in Africa or Asia. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary teaching and research, and an interest in contributing to study abroad programs and other global learning initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Actively engages the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan Intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.
Teach a load of 24 credit hours.
Contribute to department and college activities and projects.
Mentor students through advising, research, and internships.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in History, Political Science, Global Studies, or equivalent field required; advanced ABD Candidate will be considered.
Evidence of effective teaching in higher education.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of and commitment to Marian University’s mission.
