(1) how we decide that we recognize a stimulus from a previous encounter, (2) how we make decisions about our future memory performance, (3) how memory-compromising situations and variables--such as aging, alcohol intake, or response speeding--affect memory, (4) how the anatomy and physiology of brain structures can constrain models of associative learning, and (5) how simple computational models can be used to interpret human performance on tasks of recognition.
