Dr. Goldbacher’s research interests have focused on weight- and eating-related concerns. In particular, she is interested in the construct of emotional eating and its association with weight change and psychological well-being. She is also interested in the association of mood, individual characteristics (e.g., impulsivity, emotion regulation), and mindfulness-related constructs with weight and eating difficulties. Dr. Goldbacher welcomes undergraduate and graduate student participation in her research activities. There are several ongoing projects focusing on constructs related to weight and aberrant eating, including investigations of the association of emotional and disinhibited eating with body image, psychological well-being (e.g., stress, negative affect) and weight; relationships between negative emotions, emotion regulation and disordered eating; and associations between mindfulness-related constructs and aberrant eating. Outside of work, Dr. Goldbacher enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, doing activities outside, reading, and doing yoga.
