Valerie G. Starratt, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at NSU's College of Psychology. She is an evolutionary psychologist with broad interest in the biological bases of behavior. Some specific interests include the experimental activation of evolved psychological mechanisms, the interaction between limbic and PFC functioning and how that influences ultimate behavior, and the moderative effects of individual differences in physiology and life history. One of her most productive lines of research to date involves the application of evolutionary theory to the study of intimate relationships and sexual conflict, including issues related to infidelity, intimate partner violence, and rape.
