My research generally focuses on improving intervention strategies for offender populations. Although broad in scope, my program of research is tied together by a unifying goal: to develop innovative ways to reach and connect the systems necessary for reducing criminal risk and enhancing public safety. That is, I assume a multisystemic approach to offender rehabilitation that encompasses the various phases and entities related to an offender’s involvement with the criminal justice system. My research currently falls into three distinct yet overlapping domains: (1) understanding the effects of implementing correctional treatment via telecommunications, (2) developing an empirically-supported program for offenders in long-term segregation, and (3) improving re-entry outcomes, such as employment, for community released offenders. Other areas of interest include forensic mental health assessment and juvenile justice issues.
