Treb Allen's research interests are at the intersection of trade and economic development. His research has examined how geography shapes the distribution of people and economic activity across space, how information about market conditions elsewhere benefits farmers in the Philippines, how openness to trade affects the volatility farmers face in India, and how government policy shapes the structure of cities. He is a research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research.
