Expertise: Robert's special interest areas in research and teaching are based on mental illness and Social Work practice. A primary interest has been the welfare of family caregivers in coping wtih long-term mental illness. He is researching the importance of hope in the experience of mental illness and process of recovery. Robert has also recently completed a major consultancy to develop practice standards for Social Workers in the mental health field
