Emotions permeate every aspect of our everyday lives. Being able to appreciate the nature of our own and others’ feelings, to understand their triggers and consequences, and to regulate them effectively under stress is an important factor in resilience and wellbeing. Yet why are some individuals more emotionally savvy than others, and how amenable are these emotional competencies to change? My main research focuses on the development, structure, and assessment of emotional intelligence and related emotion and personality constructs, as well as their implications for positive adaptation across the lifespan. My other research area involves psychological test construction and validation, and applications of advanced statistical methods.
