Dr. Horvath’s research primarily focuses on developing and testing HIV prevention and treatment mHealth interventions for sexual and gender minorities. He is involved in the Adolescent Medicine Trials Network for HIV/AIDS Interventions (ATN) where he leads studies addressing ART adherence among HIV-positive youth and HIV risk reduction among HIV-negative transgender and non-binary youth. His current interventions incorporate social support, theoretically-grounded information, self monitoring, and gamification components that can be tailored to different groups and outcomes. He also has a pilot project in Kampala, Uganda to assess the feasibility of an HIV self-testing intervention that uses text messaging and other private social media communications channels.
