I joined a lab and started conducting research during the freshman year of college. I worked on research projects throughout college, and was even able to present my work at a prestigious conference. This was not only a great learning experience, it helped guide my professional decisions and greatly aided my professional advancement. As a result, my research program has two complementary goals – my personal intellectual and professional development; and intellectual and professional preparation of my students.
