Professor Baiocchi is generally interested in how social research can be applied to better understand policies and barriers affecting vulnerable populations (e.g., transitional age youth, former foster youth, homeless adults). His research projects have explored topics related to mental health, homelessness, the transition to adulthood, child welfare policies, and racial identity among immigrant young adults. He has experience employing mixed-methodologies (survey research, ethnography, semi-experimental design etc.) in a variety of interdisciplinary settings (sociology, social work, psychology, public health, program evaluation). His scholarship lays at the intersection of applied social research, social work, and public-medical sociology.
