This posting is for a pooled, adjunct faculty position for continuous recruitment. Review of candidates is typically done two times annually – spring/summer and late fall/winter.

OVERVIEW

The School of Social Work at the University of St. Thomas seeks adjunct instructors with primary responsibility to the Social Work field education program for upcoming semesters (fall/spring/summer). Field Education offers BSW and MSW students the opportunity to advance their learning through engagement in field practicums within community agencies engaged in social work practice. 

 

The Field Faculty Liaison will:

  • Teach a field seminar course
  • Serve as field liaison between the school and field agencies and oversee students' educational focus in placements. This includes participation in agency site visits and consulting with students and agencies to problem solve concerns, as needed.
  • Attend a monthly field faculty team meeting to consult on student issues, course assignments, and program updates/ Communicate with non-field social work faculty as needed to support student learning.

At the BSW level, field education courses are focused on generalist social work practice.  More information about the BSW curriculum can be found here.

 

At the MSW level, we prepare students to become clinical social workers. Field education course work covers both generalist (foundation) level, as well as advanced clinical (more specialized) social work courses. More information about the MSW curriculum can be found here.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

  • Applicants should have at least an MSW degree
  • Interest in teaching social work practice
  • Two years post-MSW experience
  • LGSW licensure
  • Eligibility for LISW or LICSW licensure in Minnesota
  • Demonstrated skill in group facilitation
  • Experience in supervising social work practicum students is highly desired, but not required
  • Experience in teaching in post-secondary education settings and/or community-based training is highly desired, but not required
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite; willingness to learn technology tools used to support student learning
