PROFESSOR OF GOVERNMENT
DEPARTMENT OF GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS
SCHOOL OF SOCIOLOGY, PHILOSOPHY, CRIMINOLOGY, GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS Permanent Whole-time Post

UCC wishes to appoint an outstanding academic leader to the role of Professor of Government. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate of international standing to lead an active Department that is highly regarded for the quality of its programmes, research and public engagement. Reporting to the Head of School, the Professor of Government will be expected to play a key role in the Department’s future development as well as provide leadership and support for the Department’s research and teaching activities.

The Professor appointed will be responsible, for a minimum of three/five years, for the headship of the Department, and specifically for strategic leadership including the development of staff, programmes and resources.

The appointee will have a substantial reputation in Political Science, with a distinguished record of internationally recognised research and research funding awards. Experience of senior academic leadership is also required.

Appointment may be made on the Professorial Salary Scale: €111,196 – €140,962 (Scale B), €109,129-€133,980 (Scale A). In all instances the successful appointment will be at the first point of the scale.
