    Job Description Summary


    The Department of Political Science at Auburn University seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Political Theory to begin August 16, 2026. Areas of interest include Classical and Modern Political Theory and American Political Thought.

    Candidates will be expected to teach introductory and advanced courses in classic and modern political theory, American political thought, political economy, and contribute more broadly to the undergraduate political science curriculum by offering courses in their fields of interest.

    The standard teaching load is two courses per semester for at least the first three years of appointment. All instruction is in person.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Required qualifications include a doctoral degree in Political Science conferred by the appointment start date. The candidate selected must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally during employment. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required.
