  • Part-time Lecturer Greenhouse Gas Management (non-tenure-track) (UEP 293-17)

    The Department of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning at Tufts University is searching for a part‐time lecturer to teach one graduate-level course on Greenhouse Gas Management in Fall 2024. A syllabus for how the course has been taught recently is available upon request. 


     This course will introduce students to the fundamentals of greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, including scopes frameworks, inventory approaches and protocols, reporting, forecasting, and target-setting. It will also explore best practices for GHG reduction/mitigation and tracking progress over time. Additional components of the course will consider emerging methods of Life Cycle Analysis, consumption-based accounting, and embodied carbon assessment. Importantly, students will reflect on limitations associated with current modeling, methodologies, and challenges of accounting for GHG emissions from local to national and global scales, and consider implications for policy and planning as well as the corporate sector.


     


     This course will be taught on Tuesdays 6-9pm in person, although it may be possible to negotiate a different time/day.


     


     


    Qualifications


    Candidates should have an MS or PhD in a policy and planning relevant field with a focus on sustainability, environmental science, economics, or business, or an advanced degree in a related field and experience teaching GHG accounting. Ideal candidates will provide evidence of successfully teaching topics relevant to GHG accounting.
