Associate/Full Professor in Urban Environmental Policy Planning (tenured)

The Department of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning (UEP) at Tufts University is seeking an associate or full professor in Urban Policy and Planning, beginning September 1, 2023.
The primary research and teaching interests of the successful candidate should be any subfield within urban policy and planning, ideally complementing the Department’s existing strengths in environmental justice, food systems, health and well-being, urban data analytics, spatial analytics, community engagement, resilient urban design, and/or other related areas. The candidate will be expected to develop and teach basic and more advanced courses in urban policy and planning and will serve as a thesis advisor to master’s level graduate students.
An important secondary qualification of the successful candidate will be strong competency in quantitative research methods, such as data science and statistics. The candidate will participate in teaching required core courses in addition to elective courses, thesis advising, and participation in departmental (e.g., assessment, curriculum, student affairs, etc.) and university-wide committees.
The expectation is that the candidate would eventually have a leadership role in the of UEP including as Department Chair.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. in policy/planning is preferred, but other related doctoral degrees such as economics, sociology, political science, geography, civil and environmental engineering, environmental science and policy, and public policy will be considered. An exceptional record of scholarship meriting appointment with tenure, along with a robust research agenda, is required. In addition, connections with professional public policy and planning practice is highly valued. Experience and excellence in college-level teaching is required.
