  • Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor: Correctional Management

    Requirements

    Senior Lecturer:

    A Doctorate (NQF Level 10) in Correctional Management, Penology, Psychology or a related qualification with at least six years of lecturing experience at tertiary education level and/or an equivalent combination of relevant professional experience with specialised knowledge and experience in specific areas of Leadership in Corrections, Correctional Project Planning and Management. Excellent English communication skills (oral and written). Competence to teach in at least three of the following areas: Correctional Project Management and Planning, Correctional Management, Evidence-Based Corrections, and Correctional Treatment. Proven competence in successful sourcing of research or project funding from third-party sources, successful initiation and management of research projects, curriculum development and strong management/organisational and mentorship skills. Ability to contribute to the graduate studies programme as well as support the capacity building actions in line with departmental strategies. Competence to establish professional networks and to maintain links with the industry, as well as experience in developing academic programmes. A credible record of lecturing, peer-reviewed publications, community engagement, programme coordination, as well as supervision of research students at both under- and post-graduate levels will be an advantage.

    Associate Professor:

    A Doctorate (NQF Level 10) in Correctional Management, Penology, Psychology or a related qualification with at least seven years of lecturing experience at tertiary education level and/or an equivalent combination of relevant professional experience with specialised knowledge and experience in specific areas of Leadership in Corrections, Correctional Project Planning and Management. Excellent English communication skills (oral and written). Competence to teach in at least three of the following areas: Correctional Project Management and Planning, Correctional Management, Evidence-Based Corrections, and Correctional Treatment. Proven competence in successful sourcing of research or project funding from third-party sources, successful initiation and management of research projects, curriculum development and strong management/organisational and mentorship skills. Ability to contribute to the graduate studies programme as well as support the capacity building actions in line with departmental strategies. Competence to establish professional networks and to maintain links with the industry, as well as experience in developing academic programmes. Experience in designing both under- and post-graduate curricula and leading research and development in the area of Correctional Management studies and related research areas will be an added advantage. Sound research profile including ten peer-reviewed journals/books/conference proceedings and successful supervision of at least three Master’s (research) students.
