The Department of Political Science at Auburn University seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Political Theory to begin August 16, 2025. Areas of interest include Classical and Modern Political Theory and American Political Thought.

Candidates will be expected to teach introductory and advanced courses in classic and modern political theory, American political thought, political economy, and contribute more broadly to the undergraduate political science curriculum by offering courses in their fields of interest.

The standard teaching load is two courses per semester for at least the first three years of appointment. All instruction is in person.

It offers undergraduate majors in political science, law and justice, public administration, and health services administration, master's degree programs in public administration and community planning, and a Ph.D. in public administration and public policy. The political science and law and justice majors are among the largest in the College of Liberal Arts, collectively enrolling more than 520 students on average.
