Responsibilities

Providing support in all aspects (e.g., data collection and management, psychometrics and other statistical analyses, and writing technical report), and involvement in medical education research and assessment of educational and patient outcomes.

  • Responding to national and international researchers/clients who request permission to use the Jefferson Scale of Empathy (JSE) in their research, and/or request scoring instructions and statistical analysis services.
  • Preparing summary results of research findings, and technical reports.
  • Communicating with researchers/clients regarding their research design, statistical analysis, and other aspects of their projects that feature assessment of empathy.
  • Providing direction to the administrative assistant of the Jefferson Empathy Project in responding to clients’ inquiries about using the JSE in their research, survey administration, and other projects that feature assessment of empathy.
  • Managing communications and follow-ups with clients to help in proper execution of their projects.
  • Developing approaches to improve presentation of the results to the clients for their better understanding limitations of findings, and communicating with clients about interpretations of findings.
  • Developing SAS programs and procedures to perform statistical analyses requested by clients.
  • Developing methods for archiving records of projects completed for clients to facilitate follow-up on those projects if needed, and to systematically monitor research activities.
  • Collaborating on proposal development, execution, data management and analyses of externally funded projects.
  • Preparing quarterly summary reports related to the Empathy Project activities and services.
  • Participating in the development and administration of study surveys, statistical analyses, interpretation of findings, and helping Jefferson faculty, senior administrators, and medical students in their medical education research.
  • Contributing to documentation and statistical analyses of data retrieved from the Jefferson Longitudinal Study of Medical Education.
  • Assisting Jefferson faculty, staff, and students in their research including data analyses, presentation of results, and copy editing.

Qualifications

Master degree in Psychology/Educational and Psychological Measurement/Psychometrics, with advanced skills in research design and multivariate statistical analysis, and experience using SAS in data management and statistical analysis, plus excellent verbal and written communication skills to relate to a wide range of clients and people with different background and role.  Experience using SAS for multivariate statistical analyses and data management. Skills in using MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Conditions of Employment
