Faculty Position in the Department of Community Health
School of Arts & Sciences at Tufts University
Medford, Massachusetts
The Department of Community Health in the School of Arts and Sciences at Tufts University invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor to start September 1, 2022. All qualified candidates in areas of social epidemiology and social/behavioral science are encouraged to apply. We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in health disparities research and health policy who can contribute to our research focus on the barriers and facilitators to health equity across the life span of individuals and communities. Research on the impact of racism and other forms of discrimination on population health and the development and implementation of broad-based solutions to improve the well-being of marginalized individuals, groups, and communities are priority areas. Candidates will have opportunities for collaborative research across A&S departments and Tufts centers as well as with the School of Engineering, the School of Medicine, the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, and the Jonathan Tisch College for Civic Engagement.
The successful candidate will have a strong record of scholarly achievement and potential for securing extramural funding. Candidates must also demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and advising, and a commitment to fostering an environment of inclusion and collegiality. The university is especially interested in applicants who, through their leadership, community service, lived experience and/or research will contribute to our mission of being an inclusive and anti-racist institution. We strongly encourage applications from underrepresented groups.

The position includes teaching and service with full 9-month salary support. In addition to maintaining an active research portfolio, the successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the department, and advise undergraduate Community Health students on course planning, senior honors theses, and other matters. Other responsibilities include participation in department, school, university-wide, and national professional service.

Qualifications
Candidates are expected to have a doctoral degree in public health or related fields by the start date of employment. A successful candidate will demonstrate a clear commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level and working with a diverse student population; building a vibrant and independent research agenda; being competitive to obtain extramural funding; and collaborating with faculty within and beyond the department. Our department is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and candidates should address, across their materials, how they will promote these priorities in their professional career.

Application Procedures
Applicants should submit a cover letter, a C.V., a research synopsis, a statement of teaching philosophy, teaching evaluations (if available), copies of two representative scholarly works, and three confidential letters of recommendation uploaded directly by recommenders to Interfolio. All application materials must be submitted via Interfolio at apply.interfolio.com/91476.

Questions about the position should be directed to Yolanta Kovalko, Department Administrator, by email yolanta.kovalko@tufts.edu.

Review of applications will begin October 1, 2021 and will continue until the position is filled. For further information about the Department of Community Health, please visit our website: http://ase.tufts.edu/commhealth/.
