Assistant/Associate /Full Adjunct Professor in Affordable Housing
The Department of City and Regional Planning (DCRP) at the University of California, Berkeley, seeks applications for a full-time adjunct professor position in Affordable Housing. The position will be filled at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Adjunct Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2020.
The ideal candidate will have teaching and research interests that are highly relevant to housing practice, planning, policy and development both in the US and globally, as well as the vision and drive to chart new intellectual territory. An established history of distinguished practice in one or more of the following areas is required: affordable housing development and design, housing policy, and/or public finance and affordable housing in the U.S. context.
We are particularly interested in individuals with a strong commitment to the connections between research and praxis who can offer critical perspectives on affordability, equity, and access in housing, and/or who have a record of professional leadership in the practices of affordable housing and an active voice in housing policy discourses. A background in implementing and driving housing policy and practice change at the state and federal governmental level is desirable. The successful candidate must also have a strong commitment to teaching excellence.
We seek a scholar of outstanding achievement and reputation whose work complements that of existing faculty in DCRP, College of Environmental Design (CED), and across the campus. The candidate is expected to take a leadership role in DCRP's housing concentration well as CED's Master's of Real Estate Development + Design program. They will broaden the reach of housing in applied research, policy analysis, and community partnerships as well as teaching 1 course each semester. The candidate will also work in an interdisciplinary context across CED and the University. The selected candidate will join the Faculty Director in leading the Terner Center for Housing Innovation. They will be responsible for designing the center's strategy collaboratively with the Faculty Director and building out key new programs and projects. They will plan, direct, and control the Center's budget, manage staff, and serve as a leading expert on housing research and policy on behalf of the Center and UC Berkeley.

Basic Qualifications: A master's degree or equivalent international degree at time of application.
- Master's degree (or equivalent international degree) in City Planning, Public Policy, or related field.
- Demonstrated record of innovative development practice and/or proven policy impact.
- Work experience in public and nonprofit sectors.
