SALARY: $47,684 - $76,378 (and up - dependent on education and experience)

The Economic Justice and Clean Energy Opportunity with the Office of Integrated Strategies (U.S. Department of Energy - EERE) is now accepting applications.

What will I be doing? IS is seeking talented and passionate ORISE Fellows to engage in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in STEM (DEI in STEM), Clean Energy, and Workforce Development. The specific project portfolio can be flexible to your interests and experience. Your learning opportunities include:

  • Engaging with development and implementation of EERE programs and projects that promote a High Road approach to economic and workforce development in clean energy.

  • Collaborating with IS teams to review applications for Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) program funding, focusing on the quality jobs and workforce elements of applicants’ Community Benefits Plans.

  • Developing frameworks to assess the effectiveness of BIL programs in creating quality jobs and careers in clean energy.

  • Conducting research on how workforce development activities impact current and future clean energy jobs, including synthesis of information with the focus on job quality and diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA).

  • Collaborating on the analysis of workforce needs that span clean energy technology areas, including engagement with National Lab teams conducting such analysis.

  • Participating in communities-of-practices on DEIA, Justice40, and Good Jobs and be liaison with EERE’s Senior Advisor for Good Jobs & Workforce Development.

  • Building EERE’s relationships and partnerships with key clean energy constituencies (e.g., labor unions, registered apprenticeship programs, community-based organizations, and clean energy industry associations).

  • Developing and implementing earned media campaigns to communicate and amplify how clean energy investments support quality jobs and socio-economic equity.

These activities will be carried out in collaboration with a team of federal employees at all levels, other fellows, support service contractors, and National Lab experts.

The details:

You will receive a competitive stipend, a supplement to offset the costs of health insurance, a research materials and travel allowance (up to $10,000), and relocation reimbursement (up to $5,000).

You must be a U.S. Citizen and completed or be in the process of completing a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in the last 60 months.
