The School of Criminology is inviting applications for one continuing faculty position at the rank of Lecturer to start July 1, 2020.

DUTIES: To undertake teaching (at the undergraduate level) and service in the School of Criminology including the development and delivery of courses in online as well as traditional formats.

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must have earned a Ph.D. in Criminology or a related field, completed by the employment start date, or shortly thereafter and demonstrate excellence in teaching through their submission of a teaching portfolio that includes their teaching philosophy and highlights their experience and teaching accomplishments as part of the application. The area of specialization is open. Preference will be given to applicants with a specialization in Policing, Courts, Cybercrime, or Criminological Theory. Ideal applicants will have experience teaching and developing undergraduate criminology curricula and be prepared to assist with the school’s development of innovative course delivery options to provide alternatives to traditional, ‘face-to-face’ classroom experiences, including online and other learning environments and settings.

This is an entry-level position. Only those holding or those eligible to be appointed to the rank will be considered. The position is subject to availability of funding.

The School has a well-established undergraduate program with over 900 majors and minors. It also offers graduate programs leading to the degrees of M.A. and Ph.D. There are exceptional research opportunities which include access to key research centres and institutes including the International Cyber-Crime Research Centre, the Institute for Canadian Urban Research Studies, the Mental Health, Law and Policy Institute, the Centre for Forensic Research, the Centre for Restorative Justice, and the Institute on Violence, Terrorism and Security. The faculty is multi-disciplinary and, at present, consists of 30 regular full-time members.
