Instructor or Senior Instructor – Food and Resource Economics

The University of British Columbia invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Instructor or Senior Instructor, with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2018. This position is based in the Food, Nutrition and Health (FNH) program in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems (Vancouver campus) (www.landfood.ubc.ca). The successful candidate will be expected to instruct up to 18 credits of courses, including an undergraduate core course in statistics, and quantitative methods including econometrics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate will also be required to demonstrate educational leadership related to teaching and curriculum development, within the proposed undergraduate degree program in Food and Resource Economics and the Master of Food and Resource Economics program, the Faculty and UBC, as well as providing service to these units.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Economics or related field, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in undergraduate and graduate teaching. Successful candidates must have demonstrated excellence in teaching, educational leadership, involvement in curriculum development and innovation, and other teaching and learning initiatives. Successful candidates will also be expected to provide evidence of having in-depth current knowledge in the field of quantitative methods, especially econometric applications in the food and natural resource sectors.

Applicants are required to send a cover letter, curriculum vitae, names and contact information of three references, their vision of educational leadership and an outline of their plan to implement their vision (up to 2 pages), and a teaching dossier (up to 10 pages, describing their teaching philosophy, evidence of effectiveness and initiatives in teaching, innovative teaching approaches, and a sample syllabus for a course the applicant may develop).
