Reporting to the Director of Social Services, this position will work to decrease the impact of sexual violence on students in the Cal community. Harassment, sexual assault, stalking and intimate partner violence will be addressed through the application of a range of psychological interventions including individual and group counseling, crisis response and case management. The position requires demonstrated expertise in the treatment of trauma and a broad range of knowledge that may be applied in outreach, consultation and counseling efforts.
- Under general supervision, performs assessment, diagnosis, psychotherapy, and case management of high risk situations of violence.
- Provides trauma-informed crisis assessment and intervention, brief counseling and comprehensive, empowerment-based care for all survivors of sexual violence, harassment, stalking, IPV, and other forms of trauma.
- Develops and leads groups for survivors of trauma, including but not limited to sexual violence.
- Manages complex cases, including those with dual diagnoses, and functions as a liaison between survivors/victims and campus and community resources.
- Provides consultation to Tang staff on issues of sexual violence including patient reporting options and staff reporting responsibilities.
- Trains staff on trauma-informed care.
- Infuses multicultural competence and social justice into all interventions and trainings
- Trains the campus community on Tang services and how to refer/intervene successfully. Partners with PATH to Care advocates to provide campus outreach/support including healing circles. This will involve some evening hours.
- Develops positive, productive and effective relationships with campus partners who are working to address sexual violence including PATH to Care advocates, GenEq, OPHD, The Center for Student Conduct, local police, etc.
- Develops positive, productive, and effective relationships with community partners including Highland Hospital, Bay Area Women Against Rape and Family Violence Law Center to facilitate referrals and collaboration.
- Serves on Tang and campus committees/workgroups to advance the work of violence prevention/intervention and foster a safer campus community.
- Participates in the supervision of Post-MSW Fellows, and the training of Post-MSW Fellows, Doctoral Psychology Interns, and Post-Doctoral Fellows. This may include seminar leadership and/or guest lectures for the cohort.
- Masters in Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy and current CA state license (LCSW or LMFT) plus the ability to supervise within one year post-hire.
- Demonstrated interest, experience and skills to effectively support and treat individuals who have experienced sexual or domestic violence.
- Advanced knowledge of mental health concerns with a particular focus on sexual violence, other trauma, and co-occurring diagnoses.
- Advanced individual counseling skills including assessment, psychotherapy, and case management.
- Comprehension of group dynamics, facilitation of groups and problem solving.
- Demonstrated expertise working independently and as a collaborative team member with diverse client groups, multidisciplinary staff, and an array of community partners.
- Demonstrated experience providing culturally-relevant services to communities that have been historically underserved by anti-violence movements.
- Demonstrated experience supporting and working with people from diverse ethnic, cultural, religious, socio-economic, sexual orientation, and gender identities and backgrounds in a multicultural college environment.
- Effective verbal and presentation skills and ability to adapt presentations to different audiences.
- Computer literacy and ability to navigate an electronic health record.
- Organization and planning skills to meet deadlines and work within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Interpersonal skills and political acumen to be able to work effectively within and outside the university system in order to intervene successfully and strengthen programs and relationships.
- Supervision skills, including a working knowledge of BBS requirements for pre-licensed clinicians.
- At least 2 years post-licensure strongly preferred.
- Experience as a supervisor of associate social workers (pre-licensure).
- Experience working with college student populations reflective of the UC Berkeley campus.
- Broad knowledge of social justice and multicultural competence theories, concepts and practices and ability to apply to clinical practice.
- At least three years of experience working with multi-culturally diverse populations including individuals with a range of trauma, dual diagnoses, intimate partner violence, harassment, and stalking utilizing a range of treatment modalities.
- Strong self-care practice to promote resilience and reduce impact of secondary trauma.
Salary & Benefits
