Librarian - Smart Information Services Librarian (Priority to UAE Nationals)

Description
The Smart Information Services Librarian is responsible for administering all activities and functions related to smart library and electronic resources.
Main Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage and plan the Learning resources operations, activities, and services and develop short and long-term plans for LR.
- Prepare and Manage the Learning Resources annual budget and plans, and manages expenditures in the LR annual operating budget, and makes necessary decisions to effectively spend the budget in the face of competing needs.
- Contribute to the betterment of trainings by ensuring the content database is up to date and assisting SMEs with additional resources.
- Responsible for overall development of LR collection, information services, bibliographic instructions, and reference service.
- Oversee cataloging, classification and indexing operations of the learning resources using the international standards and rules such as (AACR2, MARC21, MARC XML, LOCCs... etc.)
- Monitor performance on the LR systems, and maintain awareness of emerging issues, trends, standards, and technologies in the management of licensed electronic resources, and the smart library’s systems and tools.
- Produce and develop reports, survey information, and other documents necessary., etc.
- Apply the updated standards of Commission for Academic Accreditation, and develop the required policies and procedures accordingly, in addition to developing the strategic and action plans aligning to the university objectives, mission, vision, goals and core values.
- Build connections and establish partnerships with other libraries, publishers, and institutions and enhance relationships with MOUs.
Required Qualification & Skills
- Minimum of 3 years in a similar position and preferably in a University.
- Bachelor degree in Library Science from an accredited university. A Master degree from a library program accredited by the American Library Association.
- Thorough knowledge of concepts related to libraries and electronic databases.
- Excellent knowledge of Library Management and Information Systems.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and effectively.
- Experience with Learning Resources and Publishing systems (e.g., OJS - KOHA - Dspace - EDS - Muse - Symphony - Millennium).
- Demonstrated ability to train others
- Ability to manage and develop digital library resources.
- Strong commitment to the user-centered process.
- Experience with archival collections and non-textual format of keeping data.
- Willing to work flexible schedules; specifically evening shifts.
- Excellent communication skills in both Arabic and English languages.
- Proficiency in PC skills.
