Primary Purpose of Position
The Agribusiness and Food Industry Management program in the Department of Agribusiness, Applied Economics, and Agriscience Education is accepting applications for adjunct sociology/rural sociology lecturers. Adjunct lecturers are hired on a semester-by-semester basis to teach a variety of sociology/rural sociology courses delivered face-to-face by the Agribusiness and Food Industry Management program. The maximum teaching load varies from 1 – 2 courses per semester. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Teaching face-to-face sociology/rural sociology courses, participating in data collection and assessment of student learning, and submitting teaching materials as part of semester review.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Agribusiness and Food Industry Management program supports about 100 undergraduate and graduate students. The program is one of three concentrations under the Agricultural and Environmental Systems program. Within these concentrations, students will find a myriad of opportunities for classroom learning, research and field work. Leadership and communication skills, disciplinary expertise and research are emphasized throughout the curriculum.

Minimum Requirements
Candidates must have a Master’s degree in Sociology/Rural Sociology or closely related field at the time of application.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Candidates with 3-5 years teaching experience at the secondary, university or community college level or agricultural professional experience related to the course content that will be taught preferred.
