Lecturer - Open Pool - School of Social Welfare

Berkeley Social Welfare invites applications for an open pool of parttime, nontenure track lecturer positions. We typically review applications for Summer course needs in March; Fall course needs in April and May; in October and November for Spring course needs. Applications will continue to be accepted for future needs through February 1, 2022. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the School. Positions typically start at the beginning of the fall or spring semester, or the relevant summer session, and appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance.

We are seeking outstanding lecturers who can teach small to medium size seminar courses in Social Welfare Policy, Social Work Practice and/or Research Methods at the Undergraduate and Graduate levels. We are especially interested in lecturers with knowledge in practice. We are also interested in lecturers who can teach in one or more of the following areas: Solution-focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and/ or child development.

The minimum qualification required for an applicant to be considered for this position is a Master's degree or equivalent international degree by time of application.

Additional qualifications at the time of hire: candidates wishing to teach Masterslevel social work practice courses are required to have an MSW degree AND 2 years of postMaster's experience.

Preferred qualifications at the time of hire: a Master's degree or equivalent international degree in Social Work, Social Welfare, or a closely related field. Strong preference is for candidates with a demonstrated excellence in teaching, and also demonstrated experience working with diverse populations.

Additional duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, and preparing course materials.

Salary: The salary per course will be based on an annual salary range of $54,738-166,283 for up to six courses determined on level of education and experience (both practice and teaching).
