The Fletcher School is the United States’ first professional graduate school of international affairs. The Fletcher School’s Center for International Environment and Resource Policy (CIERP) combines rigorous research, multi-disciplinary graduate education, and executive training to equip current and future policy entrepreneurs with both the knowledge to craft evidence-based policy in a global context and the skills to implement it. Research topics of focus for CIERP include: energy, climate, and innovation; agriculture, forests, and biodiversity; sustainable development, diplomacy, and governance; and sustainable development economics.
What You'll Do
This is a gift/ grant-funded position for one year, with a possibility to renew up to three years (subject to funding).
Under direction of faculty or senior research staff, the Assistant Researcher participates in design and development of research study, execution of protocols and plans, data analysis and reporting of results for research projects and studies.
Essential Functions:
- Performs data analysis and interprets results
- Assists in preparation of summaries, reports, manuscripts, presentations and other study literature
- Assists in writing proposals for continued or new funding sources
- Participates in formulating research design, methodologies and study protocols
- Assists in maintaining data management systems, reviews data and trains users
- Represents research study
- Provides study information and answers questions
- May present information at conferences, seminars
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
- Knowledge and experience typically acquired by a Bachelor’s degree and research experience in related discipline
- 2-3 years of work experience
- Research and data management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in economics, computer science, international relations, mathematics, statistics, political science, or related fields.
- Background related to development economics and econometric evaluation.
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative research, including data collection, analysis, and visualization.
- Very strong writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Strong quantitative skills: training in econometrics and statistics required – but applicants with strong grades and demonstrated quantitative skills will be considered.
- Extensive experience in statistical analysis is a strong plus: generally, experience working with large datasets is required.
- Knowledge of Stata and Tableau; familiarity with R and Python (preferred).
- Experience as a research assistant in a similar field (preferred).
- Excellent management and organizational skills
- Fluency in English with strong communication skills
- Time-management: Proven ability to handle several different projects/tasks at one time, successfully complete tasks assigned, and meet deadlines
Pay Range
Minimum $46,700.00, Midpoint $58,450.00, Maximum $70,200.00
Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
