The American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates invites applications for full time faculty in psychology, starting August 2021. As an American-accredited institution in the liberal arts tradition, we seek candidates with a passion for both teaching and research in any area of specialization to join our faculty.

Successful candidates will have a PhD in psychology or a closely-related field, and professional experience reflecting strong commitments to teaching and research. As a university formed on the American model, with English as the language of instruction, we give priority to candidates who have experience in American models of higher education.

Our new undergraduate program in psychology has exceeded its projected enrollments with two highly motivated student cohorts. The program hosts dedicated lab spaces, specialized software and hardware, a research participation pool, and support services such as Sona Systems. Our psychology faculty regularly published in peer-reviewed journals, have won internal and external competitive grants, and often integrate undergraduates into their lab activities.

For the first stage of evaluation, we require only your CV and a letter detailing your interest in the position. Please combine these two items into a single pdf file with the letter of interest on top and submit your application through https://acg-apps1.aus.edu/cas/empapp/apply.php?p=INT-20-03. Only candidates who make it to the next stage of evaluation will be contacted about the status of their application, at which point we will request additional information.

You are welcome to contact the Search Committee Chair, Dr. Mark Aveyard (maveyard@aus.edu) or the Department Head, Dr. Vernon Pedersen (vpedersen@aus.edu), with any questions about the position, American University of Sharjah, or expatriate life in the UAE.
Applications submitted by January 15, 2020 will be given priority.
