The Faculty of Social Work invites applications to fill a Continuing Instructor I or II position P(#33844) as Field Education Coordinator. Rank and starting salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications and based on the collective agreement between the University of Manitoba and the University of Manitoba Faculty Association. 

POSITION:

The Field Education Coordinator is the person responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Field Education Program in Winnipeg, including the Fort Garry Social Work Program (FGSWP) and Inner City Social Work Program (ICSWP).  The Field Education Coordinator is supervised by the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs and reports to the BSW Program Committee on a monthly basis. 

DUTIES:

The Field Education Coordinator oversees the implementation of field instruction for BSW students at the Fort Garry and Inner-City campuses and the MSW student advanced field placements. The position is responsible for the hiring and supervising liaisons and the field program assistant, as well as the matching and placement process for students including assigning field liaisons to students and field instructors. The position makes sure the field instructor workshops are delivered annually. The position develops and implement field instruction evaluation instruments, ensures that Field Education policies follow current and future accreditation standards; completes ongoing evaluation and enhancement of all handbooks and manuals to meet University regulations and best practices in field education. Leadership is also provided to ensure that field sites maintain culturally responsive and respectful engagement with students of diverse educational, gender diverse, ability, age, racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. The Field Education Coordinator chairs the Field Advisory Committee. Teaching responsibilities will be the Integrative Practice Seminars and the development, implementation, and monitoring of the following social work field courses: SWRK 3220 Integrative Practice Seminar (new BSW curriculum), SWRK 4240 Integrative Practice Seminar (the new BSW curriculum), SWRK 3150 Field Instruction 1, SWRK 4120 Field Instruction 2, SWRK 6050 Field Instruction and SWRK 7180 Advanced Field Placement and SWRK 7190 Integrated Seminar. Other duties are monitor the implementation of field policies, participate on the BSW committee and the BSW Standings committee, ensure compliance with form completion on IPT participate at Faculty Council meetings in quarterly CASWE-ACFTS teleconferences.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Suitable candidates must have an MSW degree (a PhD in Social Work or a related field is an asset), excellent communication and interaction skills, ability to foster collegial relationships, and must have five years’ experience in field education or equivalent position.

Start Date: July 1, 2023 or as negotiated.
