Postdoctoral fellowship Canada Research Chair in School Readiness, Inclusion of Vulnerable Populations, and Social Adjustment Département de psychoéducation, Université de Sherbrooke

The school readiness and social adjustment research team is offering a full-time, 12-month postdoctoral fellowship, renewable for one year. The position is a research-intensive appointment in the Department of Psychoeducation at the Université de Sherbrooke. The postdoctoral fellow will take advantage of multiple longitudinal databases to study children with various profiles of school readiness and to examine the factors associated with their academic and social adjustment, including services for promoting school readiness and adjustment of vulnerable children. The candidate might also work on a sample of children with conduct problems.
Mentorship will be provided by Prof Gabrielle Garon-Carrier, Tier 2 CRC in in school readiness, inclusion of vulnerable populations, and social adjustment, and Prof Jean-Pascal Lemelin, both professors in the Department of Psychoeducation at the Université de Sherbrooke. The candidate will also collaborate with other members of the Groupe de recherche et d’intervention sur les adaptations sociales de l’enfance (GRISE,

Working environment :
The postdoctoral fellow will benefit from a strong research environment with the GRISE, a renowned research centre funded by the Université de Sherbrooke. The GRISE conducts cutting-edge research on children and adolescents’ behavior and adjustment problems, and on the psychosocial interventions to address these difficulties.

The candidate will be expected to :

  • write scientific papers;
  • conduct quantitative analyses with longitudinal databases;
  • contribute to external funding applications;
  • contribute to various research dissemination activities in scientific and clinical settings;
  • support master and PhD students (e.g., provide support for scholarship application, statistical analyses, etc.).

Requirements :

  • PhD in psychoeducation, developmental psychology, education, or related fields;
  • Expertise and autonomy in longitudinal data analysis or other quantitative developmental research methods;
  • CV reflecting a strong potential for research;
  • Strong interest in working as a collaborative team member on various research projects;
  • A good sense of priorities and a time-efficient work ethic;
  • Excellent competences in writing and oral communication, in English and French.

Salary and conditions :
The position offers a 45,000$ CAD scholarship for one year (possibility for renewal).
