The Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, invite applications for a clinical faculty of practice in the Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Design (BAED) degree program. While we expect to appoint at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, we will consider applicants and appointments at the level of Clinical Associate Professor.

The successful candidate will be expected to design, implement, and execute scholarly activity centered on both the historical activities of the Bruner Foundation and the future activities of the new Bruner Center for Excellence in Urban Design. Candidates who have conducted and published original research in peer-reviewed academic journals are preferred for the position.
Besides the B. A. in Environmental Design, the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University at Buffalo offers five additional degree programs: Master of Science in Real Estate Development, Master of Science in Architecture (Historic Preservation), Ph.D. in Urban Planning, two dual degree programs (with Architecture and Law), and an accredited Master of Urban Planning (MUP). Candidates who are able to teach courses across these graduate programs will be viewed favorably.
Candidates with strong knowledge of and/or experience with accreditation (preferably PAB accreditation) and/or program evaluation and student learning outcome measurement principles, processes, rationales, and benefits are strongly encouraged to apply.
The MUP academic program builds on UB’s strong tradition of applied learning, with capstone and other project-based courses and provides a multi-disciplinary, focused education with courses comprising five specializations and numerous electives.
The School of Architecture and Planning, with approximately 40 full-time faculty and 700 students, is home to the Department of Architecture and the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, both offering accredited graduate programs. Located on the university’s historic South Campus, our 19th century academic building recently underwent a $30 million renovation.
