The Department of Sociology at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor faculty position to begin August 1, 2020. The department is seeking a scholar with expertise in environmental sociology. We encourage candidates whose research and teaching add to existing departmental strengths and needs (see www.as.uky.edu/Sociology), including our longstanding commitment to research on environmental sociology and rural sociology with particular emphasis on environmental justice in natural resource-dependent communities. This individual will teach 2/2 at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Sociology or related field in hand at the time of the appointment.

The statement of research interests should identify the emphases of the applicant’s research program and specific research plans and goals. The teaching statement should describe the applicant’s teaching philosophy and pedagogical approaches, as well as specific courses that the applicant has taught or is prepared to teach.
