THE UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY, COLLEGE OF SOCIAL WORK (CoSW) is a renowned leader in social work. Our mission is clear: Through rigorous research, excellence in instruction, and steadfast service, the CoSW works to improve the human condition. Always, in all ways.

As the state’s flagship university, CoSW is committed to actualizing our mission through innovative, accessible academic programming. CoSW is home to Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (traditional and online), Master of Social Work (hybrid and online), Doctorate of Social Work (online), and PhD (traditional) degree programs. In addition to Lexington’s main campus, we have a satellite campus at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas.

To continue to advance our support infrastructure for CoSW, we invite applicants for 9-month, tenure-eligible faculty positions in Assistant, Associate, or Professor rank in the Regular Title Series to begin August 2023.

Successful candidates are expected to develop and maintain a dynamic, externally funded research program and strong record of high-impact scholarship (e.g., publications, presentations, etc.). In addition, successful candidates are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Candidates with research/teaching interests and expertise in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply: clinical practice; behavioral health; substance use disorder(s); child welfare; interpersonal violence; health disparities; community engagement; and/or, differential system impacts among underrepresented groups.

The University's mission involves three primary functions: instruction, research, and service. Each year, faculty work with the Office of the Dean to delineate their distribution of effort (DOE). This DOE outlines how faculty will spend their time. Of course, the DOE can fluctuate depending on an array of factors (e.g., grant funding, new course development, etc.). Excellence in teaching/instruction, advising, professional, University, and public service is expected.

The University of Kentucky offers comprehensive benefits. To find out more information, click here.

Applicants are requested to submit a curriculum vitae, a letter of interest detailing applicant’s goodness of fit for the position (upload as Cover Letter), a brief discussion of research agenda (upload as Specific Request #1), and relevant teaching experience (upload as Specific Request #2). The University of Kentucky considers the health, safety and well-being of our entire community to be a top priority. In alignment with this priority, all new hires must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of employment. For areas that fall under the federal CMS mandate, start of employment cannot occur until two weeks after receiving the full COVID-19 vaccination series or upon obtaining an approved exemption. Only vaccines approved by the World Health Organization can be accepted.
