Description
The Department of Psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor position in Psychology. We seek outstanding applicants who have a demonstrated record of independent teaching (i.e., beyond teaching assistantships (TA)), professional achievement and activity, and service in psychology. We are looking for someone who will primarily teach undergraduate courses in abnormal psychology and clinical psychology. Secondarily, the person would also teach at least one of the following: introductory psychology, statistics, or research methods. The ability to teach a seminar to graduate students on teaching in psychology is preferred (but not required). Also, the ability to teach courses in one or more of the following: developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, or social psychology is preferable (but not required). Finally, experience teaching large lecture courses (with 100 or more students) as the instructor of record is preferable (but not required). Teaching duties will typically involve teaching six undergraduate classes each year.

The successful candidate is expected to develop and teach courses within the undergraduate curriculum, to maintain an active profile of professional activities in the discipline of psychology and/or its pedagogy, to perform university, public, and professional service, and to be able to work with students, faculty, and staff from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds.

ACADEMIC TITLE
Assistant Teaching Professor (Lecturer with Potential for Security of Employment)
The Assistant Teaching Professor title confers the rights and responsibilities of membership in the Academic Senate and has the payroll title of Lecturer with Potential for Security of Employment (LPSOE). An LPSOE is eligible for promotion to "Security of Employment," which is analogous to tenure.

SALARY
Commensurate with qualifications and experience; academic year (9-month) basis

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
PhD (or equivalent foreign degree) in clinical/counseling Psychology or similar field in hand at time of application.
