The Nutrition and Foods Program at Texas State University invites applications for a Didactic Program in Dietetics Director and Senior Lecturer, which includes maintenance of ACEND program accreditation, teaching, and service. This is a 9-month position (academic year) with partial summer support. All positions are subject to availability of funds.

As part of the School of Family and Consumer Sciences, the Nutrition and Foods Program offers a Baccalaureate degree in Nutrition and Foods (three tracks, including an accredited Dietetics Program). The program also offers an accredited Dietetic Internship with a concentration in child nutrition that includes graduate level coursework, as well as an M.S. degree in Human Nutrition. We seek equity-minded candidates to create a diverse and inclusive educational space within our growing nutrition and dietetics programs. We are especially interested in candidates who have training and experience engaging and supporting diverse populations in education, research, and practice. Applications must include a statement on social justice, equity, diversity, inclusion (JEDI) and how a focus on JEDI informs their teaching and service.

Responsibilities include:
Assuring that Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) standards, policies, and procedures are met year-round.
Developing policies and procedures for effectively managing all components of the program and ensuring fair, equitable, and considerate treatment of prospective and enrolled students.
Student recruiting, advising, evaluation, and counseling.
Maintenance of program accreditation including:
Program’s student records, including student advising plans and verification statements;
Complaints about the program received from students or others, including disposition of the complaint;
On-going review of curriculum to meet the accreditation standards;
Communication and coordination with program faculty, preceptors, and others involved with the program and its students;
Facilitation of processes for continuous program evaluation.
Teach courses in nutrition, including a diverse array of courses that may include nutrition and health (for non-majors), nutrition science (for majors), nutritional assessment, food science, food systems production and management, nutrition and physiology, research methods, medical nutrition therapy, nutrition counseling and education, sports nutrition, biochemical nutrition, nutrition and genetics, wellness nutrition, nutrition in the lifespan, nutrition ethics and policy, and career exploration in nutrition and foods.
Advise students regarding career trajectories, including graduate school and dietetic internships.
Serve on program and School committees.
Maintain RD credential.

Required qualifications:
Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Nutrition.
Credentialed as a registered dietitian nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Minimum of three years professional experience post credentialing by summer 2022.
Experience providing nutrition education to groups of individuals, including but not limited to community education, serving as a dietetic preceptor, or being an instructor of record for a college level course(s).
Evidence of record/data management experience.
Comprehensive statement about commitment to advancing social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in teaching, research, and service.

Preferred qualifications:
Graduate coursework or professional experience that reflects courses to be taught.
Instructor of record for multiple university level courses in nutrition.
Experience teaching food systems, food systems production and management, and nutrition counseling and education.
Experience with recruitment or advising.
Marketing of nutrition programs or services.
Work experience in community nutrition, outpatient counseling, food service, or clinical dietetics.
Experience in creating an inclusive environment for diverse populations.
Professional awards or fellowships.
Servsafe, CDR board certifications, or specialties.
Significant evidence of leadership or management positions.
